Silver Shadow Fails CDC Inspection

The most recent Center for Disease Control Sanitation Inspection Report that shows the ship failed the inspection scoring a dismal 82.  According to the CDC report,

"An organized effort was made to physically remove over 15 full trolleys of dry foods, spices, canned foods, cooked foods, milk, raw meats, pasteurized eggs, cheeses of all types, baking goods, raw fruits, raw vegetables, and a variety of both hand held and counter model food equipment, pans, dishware and utensils to over 10 individual cabins shared by two or three galley crew members in order to avoid inspection by VSP staff."

Silver Shadow Collision

The Silver Shadow was involved in a minor collision on March 16, 2012 as it was approaching the pilot station in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, according to a statement by Silversea Cruises. The incident, first reported by a CNN IReporter traveling aboard the ship said the incident was a "major collision". Silversea disputes the fact in a statement to CNN - " Silver Shadow incurred limited minor dents and guests' safety was never compromised. The ship was fully operational and continued on its course to Ha Long Bay, where all shore tours operated normally."

Accommodations

All the cabins on the ship received a major makeover in December 2008. Fixed queen beds in larger suites have been replaced with convertible twin-to-queen beds, allowing for more flexibility. Staterooms feature new flat screen televisions, sofas, armchairs, desks, vanities, night tables and headboards. Carpets, drapes and bed coverings also were replaced and bathrooms were given a major overhaul with new marble countertops, walls, flooring and fixtures. Four Silver Suites, a popular category of bigger cabins were added along with one Owner's Suite with a connecting second bedroom, a Medallion Suite and a Vista Suite.

The Pool Deck
